Austria’s Labour Day, locally called Staatsfeiertag, is observed on 1 May. In many countries, the date is linked with International Workers’ Day and the history of the labour movement. The observance has particular roots in campaigns for improved working conditions, including the movement for an eight-hour working day. Austria lists it as a public holiday in 2026.
