Abolition of slavery 2026 in France

The calendar lists Abolition de l’esclavage as a public holiday in Saint-Martin on 27 May 2026. The regional scope matters: this entry does not establish the same holiday for France nationwide. The supplied background excerpt is about the United States and does not substantiate Saint-Martin’s local history or the reason for its commemorative date. The calendar supports the date, name and classification. A local authority or a specialist French slavery-history resource would be a better source for further context.
