  1. Sat, 03 Oct 2026Day of German Unity

Tag der Deutschen Einheit (German Unity Day) falls on Saturday, 3 October 2026, and is listed as a public holiday throughout Germany. The supplied context identifies it as Germany’s national day and explains that it commemorates reunification in 1990, when the German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany. It also notes why 3 October was selected instead of 9 November, a date associated with other difficult events in German history. The date marks the formal completion of reunification, not the fall of the Berlin Wall.
